LANA SIBERIE - OFF STRAND Maastricht

Meet LANA SIBERIE, one of the designers joining OFF STRAND Maastricht during FASHIONCLASH Festival Side Program.
Founded in 2010 by Iulia Filipovscaia, LANA SIBERIE is  inspired by her mother, Svetlana, an avid knitter, LANA is short for Iulia's mother given name and SIBERIE (Siberia) is where the family are from.
The debut collection featured 12 unique crochet-knit pieces, all 100% handmade. LANA SIBERIE continues to make custom made orders for clients such as supermodel Natalia Vodianova and her charity, The Naked Heart, but as much as LS's love for handmade knitwear remains undiminished, 2013 saw the first endeavor into the world of ready-to-wear fashion.

LANA SIBERIE AW14 collection was on display at Copenhagen, London and Paris Fashion Weeks and both SS14 and AW14 seasons are debuting at LN-CC store in London.

Iulia is an artist and designer living and working in London. She has a B.A. in Fine Arts from Central St. Martins College of Art and Design (2007), and a M.A. in Image and Communication from Goldsmiths University of London (2009).

"Our collections explore the theme of material emulation. Having been brought up in the diamond-mining town of Mirniy in Siberia, minerals have always held a symbolic potency in designer’s life. This interest found its way into ‘FOUNDTON’ collection in the form of woven patterns replicating marble textures, the collection transformed into a game, neary alchemic. GROWTH is a continuation of SS14, its second phase. Through replication of marble textures by use of jacquard technique, collection this time focuses on Nature. Eastern Siberia, where the designer spent her childhood, is surrounded by taiga, a vast wild coniferous forest (EMERALD) that during winter is covered with iridescent blanket of snow (PEARL), when short but warm summer sees earthy colours of soil and needles covering the ground beneath you (BRUST + SAND). These are the colours of the new collection."
